WICKEDLEAK WAMMY PASSION Z
A good full HD, quad-core smartphone for those on a budget.

The Wammy Passion Z is built using the MT6589 chipset, which has a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and a PowerVR SGX544MP graphics processor. You get 1GB of RAM, and the storage capacity stands at a total of 4GB. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi B/G/N, Bluetooth and a microUSB port. The rear shooter is a 12-megapixel camera with a BSI sensor and an LED flash, while the front camera is a  2-megapixel one. The Passion Z runs on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and has the stock Jelly Bean user interface and launcher.

The phone is enclosed within a firm and strong frame with a dual-tone white and black body. The front is glossy black, while the sides and rear are rendered in matte-finished white. The phone is a dual-SIM handset and features one miniSIM and one microSIM slot. This is one of the first handsets we have come across that supports both SIM card sizes. This might be a good thing as users can use SIM cards of either size. The phone measures 8.9mm in depth and weighs 150g. The slim form factor lends a good grip, and the phone feels quite good to hold.

The screen is 5 inches in size and features a full HD IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The panel adopts OGS (One Glass Solution) technology, which helps reduce the handset's thickness by a good margin. The IPS display is very crisp and provides clear picture
quality. Videos and photos look vibrant as the contrast and brightness levels are well adjusted. Viewing angles are great too, thanks to the IPS panel. Watching 720p and full HD 1080p videos is quite a lot of fun, and the experience is very pleasant. The Passion Z's media player handles a fair number of media formats out-of-the-box.

The 12-megapixel camera performs slightly better than regular budget phones. Photos taken in broad daylight are very good, but certain areas look washed out if they are not being focused upon. By default, the light is metered in the centre of the frame, due to which the surrounding objects get underexposed and look washed out. You have to touch the screen to focus on the desired area of the frame. Indoor shots look pleasant. We have no complaints about the camera whatsoever.

Lastly, the 2500mAh battery powering the handset seems to be fairly good. In our tests,  the battery lasted for a decent 8 hours and 30 minutes when used to play videos, music, make calls and stream videos throughout the day. The battery should last even longer with standard usage, and we assume it will give you at least around 12 hours, if not more. Using memory and battery management apps can help prolong the battery life, but at the end of the day, it all boils down to how you use it.

FOR Full HD display; rugged build quality; slim form factor.
AGAINST None.
