Highly anticipated NVIDIA gadgets make a showing
Ever since it was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013, everyone was waiting for the day they can see, touch, and abuse NVIDIA’s Project SHIELD. In catering to the anticipation, NVIDIA organised a product showcase for the media to showoff the Android- powered device along with the company’s new professional-based performance graphics and recently released ultra gaming performance grade graphics.
The show-stopper, of course, is none other than Project Shield, renamed as NVIDIA SHIELD. It feels like an oversized Xbox controller, only that it is powered with a TEGRA 4 processor and comes with a 5in multi-touch screen, 16GB flash memory, multiple connection ports, wireless capabilities, and advance motion sensors. All these specifications to power the latest Android (Jelly Bean) operating system within. Games, like Skyrim, were available to test the wireless PC gaming streaming capabilities, which, in all honesty, is exceptionally stable and amazing. It could be because the device was connected to the high-end gaming PC. Even Android games that needed high performance requirements had no issues when they were played on the NVIDIA SHIELD.
Besides SHIELD, the NVIDIA team also delved into the performance and design of the NVIDIA TITAN and Quadro cards. The former, launched at an earlier event, is the culmination of NVIDIA’s super-computing efforts while the latter is designed to offer the best in graphic computing performance for professional solutions. The performance stats NVIDIA shared at the briefing were astounding and the demos used proved that the numbers were not randomly generated.
What we need now is to see the NVIDIA SHIELD and the Quadro be made available here in Malaysia. According to NVIDIA, it’ll be here soon enough.
