Tired of waiting for the next Playstation or Xbox? Unsure  on the Nintendo Wii U? Well, take your pick from the feast  of Google-powered gaming heading this way, instead…

Nvidia Project Shield
The gaming chip maker’s CES show-stopper not only intends to play Android games, but also stream PC titles on the go over N Wi-Fi, with  72 GPU cores and a quadcore A15 processor doing the grunt work. The portable keypad controller features a five-inch, 720p flip-up multi-touch screen, while energy- saving PRISM 2 tech hopes to improve battery life to keep commuters happy.

GameStick Tagged as the most affordable and portable TV gaming console ever, Playjam’s effort plugs directly into your TV’s HDMI slot (the dongle sits in the controller at other times). Powered by a quadcore processor with 1GB RAM, 8GB Flash storage, it aims to stock games by devs that lack the resources to bring product to market via traditional consoles.

Green Throttle
Spearheaded by Guitar Hero co-creator Charles Huang, this plans to put your smartphone’s games on your TV using an app that you download to your blower. Get the Arena app, plug your phone into a TV, then pair it via Bluetooth with up to four controllers. The software isn’t available yet, and no games are confirmed, but devs can sign up now.

OUYA
The open-source project that kickstarted the Android console boom is nearly here. Created by gaming industry veteran Julie Uhrman (IGN, Gamefly) and award- winning designer Yves Béhar it’s powered by a quadcore Tegra 3 processor, has 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, a USB 2.0 slot and an HDMI support to display 1080p HD content. Consumer consoles are now available for pre-order

eSfere
This indie-go-go project also aims to deliver Google Play tablet/ smartphone games on the big screen, this time via a console that connects to your TV, with a touchscreen controller that supports media streaming and web surfing as well as gaming. It has a Tegra 3 processor, 2GB RAM, two USBs, Wi-Fi and HDMI, plus the option of a matching vase – well, why not?
