Nokia unveils its latest Windows Phone 8 - Nokia Lumia 925

Nokia finally showed off its Nokia Lumia 925, a new interpretation of the Lumia 920. The Nokia Lumia 925 uses a meta-based design, which is a first for the Finnish company, and showcases the latest PureView camera, in addition to the new features and third party applications coming to the Nokia Lumia range.

The Lumia 925 will include advance lens technology and imaging software to capture clearer, sharper pictures and video as well as great low light images. It will also feature a new Nokia Smart Camera mode, which is coming as an update to all Lumia Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Nokia Smart Camera offers an easy way to capture ten images at once and edit the pictures with options like Best Shot, Action Shot, and Motion Focus.

For those who love to share their pictures, Hipstamatic will be available on Nokia Lumia smartphones, allowing people to show off pictures on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Instagram.

“We keep innovating. The goal of our efforts is to advance the user experience of the Nokia Lumia portfolio, whether that means providing great new benefits for an existing Lumia owner or bringing new showcase devices like the Nokia Lumia 925,” says Jo Harlow, Executive Vice President of Nokia Smart Devices.

A wireless charging cover can be clipped onto the back of the phone to take advantage of Nokia’s wireless charging accessories and ecosystem. Covers, sold separately, will come in white, black, yellow, and red.

Sales are expected to start in UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and China in June, followed by the US and a number of other markets. The new Lumia 925 will be priced around 469 Euros before taxes and subsidies. Country-specific pricing and availability will be announced locally.

On the local front, Nokia Malaysia has started selling the its affordably priced - RM289 - Nokia 301, which is a new feature phone built in the classic ‘candybar’ design, offering 3.5G internet speeds and a smart camera for taking better pictures. Returning to their roots with the original alphanumeric keypad paired with a 2.4-inch screen, Nokia appears to be catering to the low budget market, a niche that is often forgotten by the other smartphone manufacturers.

“Nokia 301 will reach a new set of audience with its affordability, high-performance and distinctively Nokia touches like beautiful design and vibrant color,” says Gary Chan, Head of Marketing, Nokia Pan Asia. “The Nokia 301 is an instant classic: It builds on Nokia’s heritage by combining well-loved features with smarter capabilities in one appealing and affordable device.”

The Nokia 301 is also capable of running popular apps like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and eBuddy; all of which can be accessed directly from the homescreen.

The Nokia 301 is available in both single and Easy Swap Dual SIM models. The latter allows users to switch SIM cards without turning off the phone, so they can get better tariffs or use the best SIM for a specific purpose, be it calling, texting or using data.
