NoKIA’s BACK IN BLACK (or silver)
Nokia Lumia 925 As far as we’re concerned, Nokia’s last great Lumia was the N8, all the way back in 2010. That’s because the N8 was a sweet example of the two things Nokia does best: delectable design and class-leading camera tech. So it was with great relief that we picked up the 925 and found it to be, like the N8, a handsome slice of metal and, like the N8, sporting an exceptional camera. Unlike its Symbian great-uncle, however, the 925 can do astonishing things with its shots, auto-editing them to a professional level in moments. And it has Windows Phone 8, with the specs and screen to make it shine. There are also optional back covers that give you wireless charging ability and let you ruin the aesthetics with bright yellow and red colours.
SHOOTY AND SWEET
Smart Shoot
On by default, SmaShoo (as we’ve started calling it) takes many pictures so you can swap faces around, and erase randoms who stumble into shot.
Motion capture
Again, a burst of photos but stitched together to show the moving object multiple times in the frame. You can pick one frame to be the central focus.
Zany effects
Pick out a splodge of colour in an otherwise monochrome shot, or add motion blur to define your subject. (Don’t try referring to them as ‘art’.)
