Decent sound, but it’s worth paying more
+ GIGA Great all-round quality; compact
- KILO Corsair SP2500s worth £30 more; bass can be too dominant
Don’t be fooled by the Creative GigaWorks T3’s diminutive satellites; each contains a 2in driver rated at a nominal 15W, and is extremely capable when it comes to producing detailed high end and mid-range.
Each speaker connects to the subwoofer via an RCA phono cable, with a second pair of RCA ports on the sub’s rear acting as inputs. There’s also a connector for the desktop remote and a manual bass level dial.
Meanwhile, the T3’s cube-shaped subwoofer itself boasts an impressive count of three 6.5in woofers shielded by mesh, while the compact remote adjusts the volume, and also offers auxiliary 3.5mm input and output jacks.
Right across our tests, the T3 headset produced fine sound quality. The high end was crystal- clear and detailed, while bass lines thundered away with gusto. However, we found the bass from the T3’s subwoofer just a little too thumpy, causing an all-too-clear disconnect from the rest of the audio range coming from the satellites.
CONCLUSIONT
he Creative GigaWorks T3 is a good set of well-rounded speakers, with plenty of quality and volume to spare. However, it’s eclipsed by the features and sound offered by the Corsair SP2500, which is well worth the extra £30. HB
